Millions Of Terabytes Lost

We all know about the chip shortage that affecting the entire world right now, well there’s no good news, as now 6.5 exabytes or 6.5 million terabytes worth of SSDs have been contaminated. Kioxia and Western Digital have reported that contamination issues have been detected at its NAND production facilities. This happened in late January and production has since been halted, no doubt that this will have a market impact, with a total of 207 exabytes being produced for the consumer in 2021 the lost 6.5 exabytes is only 3% of that.

2. EU plans to invest €43 billion to help chip shortage

For some good news, it seems that the EU is planning on helping out with the semiconductor chip shortage and have now outlined €43 billion for the development and fabrication of semiconductor chips. They plan to boost their production from 9% to 20% by 2030. Which still seems like a really long time to go. And it’s not only the EU that has taken matters into their own hands, as the USA has also approved $52 billion of federal funding for the United States’ own semiconductor industry.

3. COD will be available to PlayStation In The Future

PlayStation users rejoice as it has been confirmed that Microsoft won’t be bad guys, you will still get Call of duty coming to your console in the future. For the first time now it has been officially stated by  Microsoft’s president and vice-chairman, “To be clear, Microsoft will continue to make Call of Duty and other popular Activision Blizzard titles available on PlayStation through the term of any existing agreement with Activision.” he also stated that “And we have committed to Sony that we will also make them available on PlayStation beyond the existing agreement and into the future so that Sony fans can continue to enjoy the games they love.” the same goes for Nintendo apparently.

4. BF 2042 Players Defund Refunds

Now Battlefield 2042 is a game I think no one wants on their gaming platform anymore. At the time of writing 105 000 people have signed a petition for refunds on all platforms. This is massive as the person that started the petition claims that a lawyer said that if the petition got 50 000 signatures he would take the case against EA and DICE. The game was launched with major bugs and glitches and has been getting hit from every direction, it’s now rated as the 12th worst game on steam.

5. Gran Turismo 7 AI is too good

With Gran Turismo 7 coming next month, there’s a lot of attention around it, now even more so as Sony has developed an AI that beat the best human drivers there is. The AI, named GT Sophy, was trained by Sony through reinforced learning which means It races tracks over and over again, following a human-designed reward system that encouraged better results and eventually made it master the game. A pro racer in the game stated that “The AI drives in a way that we would never have come up with,”

6. Hey PlayStation voice command

Yesterday we talked about the PS5 getting voice commands, now we have some feedback on that. And apparently, it works quite well. When you turn it on, there’s a basic tutorial of how it works and so on. After that you just say “hey PlayStation” and a pulsating white dot will pop up in the top left corner of your screen. After you say your command, it’ll appear as text next to the dot. You can give it different commands such as opening the main menu or opening a game if you are too lazy to go to the icon of the game. You can switch it off as well if you are paranoid about these types of things.

7. Intel GPUs might be delayed

We are all super excited for Intels ARC GPUs coming soon, well they might be coming later than sooner as there are now rumors going around that the planned March/April release will be pushed back to a June/July release. Apparently, this is to sort out driver issues. This is all good, it gives them more time to make more GPUs and we get a better-polished product. This will also allow them to get last-minute tests done, and get samples sent to enough businesses.

8. New Smaller Assassins Creed Game

So assassins creed Valhalla would have gotten a new expansion DLC, well that is until the DLC became its own stand-alone game. Codenamed Assassins creed Rift is supposed to launch either this year or in 2023. The game will also be more stealth-focused and will have less exploration to it. This title will come between the Valhalla game and the upcoming Assassin’s Creed Infinity.

9. Samsung S22 First Impressions

Yesterday we saw a lot of first impressions of the new Samsung S22, and it seems to be a lot like Apple, with minor improvements from the S21 but nothing game-changing. It’s mostly software upgrades and then changes to the screen and some changes to the camera. It seems like a great phone still, and definitely worth it to check out. The thing is they are expensive though starting at $800 and going up all the way to $1600 for the ultra version. The line-up is still the same as well, the Galaxy S22, S22+, and S22 Ultra models.
