1. 40 Starlink Satelights Down

We have talked about Starlink on here before but this time Starlink has lost 40 satellites due to the sun. On February 3rd Starlink launched 49 satellites into space, soon after the satellites were put into a safe mode to fight an incoming geomagnetic storm, now 40 of these satellites do not want to go out of the safe mode again. It’s possible Starlink did this for the purpose of testing these satellites in conditions like these as they knew that a geomagnetic storm was bound to hit.

3. Qualcomm & Ferrari Partnership

Ruan my editor is a big F1 fan, so he was surprised to hear that Snapdragon will feature as a sponsor on the new Ferrari F1 car for 2022. The reason for this is that snapdragon and Ferrari has entered into a partnership for designing smart cars for Ferrari. Snapdragon has surprisingly a few automotive tech at their disposal, like Snapdragon Ride, Snapdragon Cockpit f, and Snapdragon Auto Connectivity. We don’t know as of yet which of these Ferrari is interested in but Qualcomm did say that they will be working with Ferrari to “design, develop and integrate Ferrari’s digital cockpits,” Which might suggest something for a new infotainment system in Ferraris.

4. Ryzen 7000 Looks Good But Might Be More Expensive

Intel claimed back the performance and value for money segment on CPUs with the new 12th Gen that launched late last year. Well AMD might just hit back hard, as they are planning two new CPU launches this year with one demonstration showcasing 3D V-Cache and how gamers will benefit from its faster performance. But the big one is scheduled for the second half of 2022, which will be Ryzen 7000 on the AM5 platform and new LGA 1718 socket. Apparently, it’s going to change everything about AMD. It will feature the brand new Zen 4 core architecture with rumors suggesting it will still be 16 cores and 32 threads. These will be powered by TSMC’s 5nm process node and are designed for gamers first. It is rumored that we might see a 20% price hike though which is massive, this is because of the complexities of the advanced 5nm process node. Also other factors, such as the continued high shipping and Foundry costs. If performance alone is going to be enough to keep Intel away I don’t know. But anyway there’s a lot to go through and we could make a whole video just about this, but we are excited to see what’s to come.

5. Redmi K50 Gaming Phone

The Redmi K50 Gaming version is coming very soon, yes gaming phones have very much become a thing. Apparently, the K50 gaming has shoulder triggers, a lightning bolt-shaped flash next to three cameras, with the words “Freezing” and “Speediest” written on the left and right sides, no idea why but yeah. This will be the Flagship for the K50 range from Redmi. The launch will be on the 16th of Feb and there’s no confirmation on the other phones from this range yet.

6. $3.9 Billion In Bitcoin Got Back

We have done a couple of crypto getting hacked or stolen news but now the US was able to retrieve 94 000 bitcoin currently worth $3.9 billion. Back in, 2016 the cryptocurrency exchange Bitfinex was hacked, and $60 million worth of bitcoin was stolen from their private wallet. That doesn’t sound too much right, well at today’s prices that’s worth $4.5 billion. But now a couple living in Manhattan was arrested for allegedly conspiring to launder the stolen Bitcoin. Deputy Attorney General Lisa Monaco said, “Today’s arrests, and the department’s largest financial seizure ever, show that cryptocurrency is not a safe haven for criminals.” Now I just wonder if they will be returning those bitcoins to Bitfinex or will they hold them or sell them. Because the US government is one of the biggest holders of bitcoins.

7. Apple “Tap To Pay”

Tap to pay is such a handy feature to have in the midst of this pandemic, and I’m glad to say that Apple will introduce this for their iPhones later this year. The vice president of Apple Pay and Apple Wallet said that “Tap to Pay on iPhone will provide businesses with a secure, private and easy way to accept contactless payments and unlock new checkout experiences,”

8. Nvidia ARM Deal Crashes

A while ago we reported on the NVIDIA and ARM deal that looks to be in shambles, well the deal has fallen through officially now.  Not only did NVIDIA decide to abandon the deal, but Arm’s chief executive officer Mr. Simon Segars is also set to resign from the company. This has come as no surprise as the whole deal has had numerous hurdles from the start.
