Logitech G915X Review: The Goldilocks of Keyboards?

When Comfort Meets Critique. I have accumulated my share of keyboards over the years. Mechanical marvels to chiclet minimalist elegance, they've all found a place on my desk. But one keeps coming back — the Logitech MX Keys. It is my comfort board. Like your old favorite hoodie, it fits just right. But recently. things shifted.

Sticky. Icky. Yucky. The keycaps started to feel wrong — filthy almost. I made a video about it and, naturally, the comments were brutally honest: "You're the problem." Maybe I am. But that was the start of a journey. A journey of discovery through dozens of keyboards.

Each one? Not quite right.

Too loud. Too hollow. Too plasticky. None of them typed like I needed them to. As a kid brought up on laptop keyboards, I'm a slave to low-profile keys. But a good low-profile mechanical keyboard? Almost in the realm of fantasy.

Enter: Logitech G915X

First impression, and this was the one.

  • Low-profile
  • Solid build
  • Premium look
  • Mechanical switches
  • Lightspeed wireless
  • RGB for days

It all looked great. But is it all it's cracked up to be — and the cost?

What's in the Box

So let's start with what comes in the box:

  • A guide (duh).
  • A USB-C cable for charging.
  • A clever USB adapter so your Lightspeed dongle can sit right next to the keyboard for minimal latency.

Simple but effective.

Build Quality & Design

This thing is built. The G915X is basically a slab of aluminum with virtually no flex. The brushed metal finish screams premium, and the ultra-thin profile makes it one of the sleekest boards I’ve ever used.

There's a lovely volume wheel, perfect for audio tweaking and browsing through content. The board is flat on your desk, so a wrist rest is not necessary — which suits us just fine, as there isn't one included.

Some tilt is in order? Logitech includes two pairs of adjustable feet to achieve your typing angle.

Typing Experience: Love and Loathe

The GL Tactile switches? They're great. The short travel (only 1.3mm actuation) makes the typing snappy and responsive.

But the letdown: the keycaps.

Yes, they're double-shot PBT. Yes, they're low profile. But they're thin. Thin enough to be nearly translucent. They ring hollowly. They're hollow to the touch. And they just can't match the stiffness and quality of aluminum deck below them.

It's like placing plastic hubcaps on a Ferrari.

Thankfully, Logitech finally relented and put in standard Cherry stems, so now you can replace them with custom caps. But at this price. do you really have to?

Connectivity and Battery

This is where the G915X shines:

  • Three Bluetooth profiles.
  • Lightspeed wireless for low latency.
  • USB-C for wired mode.

And battery life isn't a joke either. Even with RGB cranked out, I got a good week to a week and a half. That's actually pretty great.

The Software Nightmare

And now for the worst: Logitech G Hub.

Yes, it's got more features than you'll ever use. Yes, you can remap keys, customize macros, and control per-key RGB. But it's a UX disaster.

  • Sometimes it won't launch.
  • Sometimes it forgets your settings.
  • Sometimes… it just gives up the ghost.

You don't need a computer science degree to configure your keyboard.

Logitech, if you're reading this: get rid of the app. Start over. Please.

Logitech G915X

Final Verdict: 7/10

The G915X is a nearly perfect low-profile mechanical keyboard. It's beautifully crafted, types magnificently, and is loaded with features. But three things hold it back from being perfect:

  • The software – Logitech G Hub should be given a complete overhaul.
  • The keycaps – Just don't keep up with the build quality.
  • The price – For this price, perfection is the only acceptable standard.

If you can get it at a discount, then it's a solid buy.

If not? Ah… well. perhaps continue looking. Or replace the keycaps and hope Logitech hears you one day.
